Crate Rewards (from after Missions)

After almost every mission, you will be given the option to open up to 9 Reward Crates (the first 3 crates are free to open, the next 3 can be opened for free after watching a video if available, or with 25 gold if there is no video available, and the final 3 crates can be opened for 25 gold).

There are 3 tiers of crates: Gold, Silver & Bronze.

  • Silver Crates drop about 15% of your Total Crates.
  • Gold Crates drop about 3% of your Total Crates (average of 1 every 11 missions).

The rewards are based on the Recommended Survivor Level (RSL) posted prior to each mission. As the RSL increases, so does the amount of Supplies (Food/Tomatoes), XP and the levels of Equipment.

Some rewards are constant: regardless of the Recommended Survivor Level, you will always get the following rewards from these crate tiers:

  • Bronze: 1 Radio, 1/2/3 Gold, 2 Gas
  • Silver: 2 Radios, 5/6/7/8 Gold, 4 Gas
  • Gold: 4 Radios, 10/15/20 Gold

Different types of missions will give different percentages of rewards.

Challenge Missions:

  • Gold Crates give mostly Gear in these Missions.
  • Supplies and XP are given the majority of the time in Bronze and Silver Crates.
  • Radios, Gold and Gas are occasionally found in all Crate types (Gas is not found in Gold Crates).
  • As you increase your Player Level, you will get less Supplies and more XP in Crates.
  • Supplies won’t be given as a reward for once you get to a certain RSL (currently around RSL 21/22 as of update 2.7)

XP Scavenge Missions:

  • Most of your rewards should be XP in these missions.
  • In Gold Crates, you should only get XP, Radios or Gold.
  • Radios, Gold and Gas are occasionally found in all Crate types (Gas is not found in Gold Crates).
  • Common, Uncommon and Rare gear can be found in Silver and Bronze Crates.

Supply Scavenge Missions:

  • Most of your rewards should be Supplies in these missions.
  • In Gold Crates, you should only get Supplies, Radios or Gold.
  • Radios, Gold and Gas are occasionally found in all Crate types (Gas is not found in Gold Crates).
  • Common, Uncommon and Rare gear can be found in Silver and Bronze Crates.
  • This is the only type of Scavenge Mission

Equipment Scavenge Missions:

  • Most of your rewards should be Equipment in these Missions.
  • In Gold Crates, you should only get Equipment, Radios or Gold.
    • You have a chance to get Epic and Legendary Equipment in these Gold Crates!
    • If you are really looking for Epic and Legendary Equipment, play the Hard missions as they have a higher chance of dropping Epic and Legendary Equipment!!
  • Radios, Gold and Gas are occasionally found in all Crate types (Gas is not found in Gold Crates).

Equipment levels are determined by the RSL of the mission. The equipment found has a level range of 1 level above or below the RSL. So, if you are playing an RSL 15 mission, the gear you get will be level 14, 15 or 16.

Once you reach the maximum level of gear you available in the game (currently level 22 in update 2.7), you won’t be able to get gear above that level. So, for RSL missions 22 and above, you should only be able to get level 21 or 22 gear.
