Dim Forest

Check back after the Challenge starts for more info….

Dim Forest - Overview.jpg

Here is some information (and a few tips and strategies) for the Dim Forest Challenge. As always, different people will have different strategies. So, use this information, try some of these strategies if you want, or develop your own and see what works best. Using your best Survivors will usually give you the best chance at earning more stars, so work with what you have!!

Here’s an overview of some of my general Challenge and Guild Tips that discuss and show some of the strategies mentioned here that can help you get more stars.

Please share any strategies or videos in the comments!! Please don’t share videos that rely on Weekly Event Class Damage Bonuses (especially Hunter and Assaults) as those are only useful during those events, and are often misleading as to how to best beat a map. Thanks to everyone from the community and the Eh family for their contributions!

Please note that when you start getting to the repeat levels of difficulties, you can get an extra Tank or Armored Walker in the map. NG likes to make things more difficult!

Lost Bunker

Lost Bunker - Overview.PNG

Overview: Make your way to the exit while dealing with Fire Walkers and a Tank Walker. Beware of the Tanks that emerge from the ground. Fire Walkers will also spawn from the two piles on the map, but not until after the 2nd turn (I think).

Potential Strategies: Run around the first two ground traps, and set up in the Spawn Block position. Get an assault charged and shoot the Tank from far away. Alternatively, you could also run across the traps (preferably with Scouts for extra distance), and try to avoid the Tank Walkers that emerge from the ground and the one that starts on the map.

  • Potential Heroes to use:
    • Abraham: If you use ranged survivors, more damage and health is very helpful.
    • Sasha – Turning body shots into charge points is very helpful when the map gets difficult.
    • Dwight – More damage against Tanks and Freemen could be helpful.

Double Trouble

Double Trouble.PNG

Overview: Kill both of the Tanks and make your way (back) to the exit/starting point.

Strategies: Hunters, Shooters and Assaults are very useful on this map as you usually want to kill the Tanks from a safe distance. As this map gets more difficult, I will usually try to back myself into the left part of the map so I’m not getting attacked on two sides when the walkers spawn, but you must get all the way to the left. Beware, Walkers will spawn right on top of you.

  • Potential Heroes to use:
    • Abraham: More damage and health on your Ranged survivors is always helpful.
    • Sasha: When this map gets tough, you chance to charge your survivors quicker can come in very handy.
    • Dwight: The extra damage to the Tank walkers can be useful.
    • Daryl: Everyone has Daryl and he can be very helpful for not adding to the Spawn counter and getting more critical attacks.

Spawn Locations:

Spawn Blocks:

You can block the spawns on the starting point/exit, so try to line up a Hunter on the right or left side of the exit so you can attack all the spawning Walkers.

Train Wreck

Train Wreck - Overview.PNG

Overview: Open the crates while dealing with constantly spawning Burning Walkers, and two Armored (or Tank?) Walkers.

Note: There is a visual glitch where the top right crate will stay illuminated after you’ve earned all 3 unlocks, so keep an eye on the glowing exit and get to it when it lights up!

Potential Strategies: This map can be tough. Burning Walkers render Melee almost useless, though attacking a Burning Walker will cause less damage than being attacked by one (Note: the Kingdom Spear and Pitchfork DO NOT eliminate burn damage even though you are attacking from a distance), so Scouts can have some value for the extra movement distance.

Spawn Blocks:

  • You can block the Burning Walker from spawning by using the above placement.

  • You can’t completely block all 4 spawning Walkers, but you can block 3 of the 4.

Cabin by the Lake

Cabin by the Lake - Overview.PNG

Overview: Open the 3 crates and make your way to the exit.

Potential Strategies: Assaults are very useful on this map. Get them charged up on the Normal Walkers and then Stun the Armored Walkers.

Spawn Locations:

  • The Walkers that spawn on the exit can spawn in different locations, making a complete spawn block impossible.

Getting Burnt

Getting Burnt.PNG

Overview: Open the 3 crates and make your way back to the exit/starting point. To make your way back to the exit, open the fence from the left side (after the crates are opened) ; don’t run back the way you came!!

Getting Burnt Open.PNG

Strategies: With so many Burning Walkers, ranged Survivors are your best chance. Keep a Hunter at the fence to shoot the Walkers in that start in that area and help deal with the walkers that spawn there.

  • Potential Heroes to use:
    • Sasha: Turning body shots into quicker charged attacks is very useful.
    • Abraham: More damage and health for your ranged Survivors is great.
    • Daryl: Everyone has Daryl and he can be very helpful for not adding to the Spawn counter and getting more critical attacks.

Alternatively, if you can’t block those spawns, you can hit both spawning walkers in the top part of the map with an Assault with Gold (maybe Silver) spread.

Into the Woods

Into the Woods - Overview.PNG

Overview: Open the 3 crates and make your way back to the exit.

Potential Strategies: This is a very tough map at higher difficulties. You need to finish as quickly as possible. Again, Assaults are very useful for stunning the large amounts of walkers that Spawn, but reducing the spawns with Threat Reduction is also a solid strategy.

  • Potential Heroes to use:
    • Abraham: If you use ranged survivors, more damage and health is very helpful.
    • Sasha – Turning body shots into charge points is very helpful when the map gets difficult.
    • Jesus – If you go with an all melee team, more health and damage for them is useful.
    • Michonne – Extra Threat Reduction and Swift Strike can be very useful.
    • Gabriel – Gabriel will also add to Thread Reduction and Swift Strike chances, but many people may not have him unlocked.
    • Carol – If you use all Scouts and don’t have Gabriel, Carol is the next best option.

Spawn Blocks: You can block 3 of the 4 spawns in the above picture…
