Ka-Boom

Ka-Boom.jpg

Here is some information (and a few tips and strategies) for the Ka-Boom Challenge. As always, different people will have different strategies. So, use this information, try some of these strategies if you want, or develop your own and see what works best. Using your best Survivors will usually give you the best chance at earning more stars, so work with what you have!!

Here’s an overview of some of my general Challenge and Guild Tips that discuss and show some of the strategies mentioned here that can help you get more stars. If you are looking for a guild, head over HERE.

Please share any strategies or videos in the comments!! Please don’t share videos that rely on Weekly Event Class Damage Bonuses (especially Hunter and Assaults) as those are only useful during those events, and are often misleading as to how to best beat a map. Thanks to everyone from the community and the Eh family for their contributions!

Please note that when you start getting to the repeat levels of difficulties, you can get an extra Tank or Armored Walker in the map. NG likes to make things more difficult! Also, the Spawn Blocks can become outdated as NG may use this information against us, so test them out on future challenges at early levels.

Old Bricks

Old Bricks - Overview.PNG

Overview: Open the boxes and make your way to the exit.

Potential Strategies: There are numerous Normal Walkers and two Explosive Walkers to start the map. Be careful, one of the Exploders may be hiding down by the boxes. After you open your second box, a couple Normal Walkers and a Tank will emerge on the top/left part of the map, so try to have some action points on your other two Survivors available, or keep your distance from that part of the map.

  • Potential Heroes to use:
    • Abraham: More damage and health for ranged Survivors is always helpful.
    • Sasha: Turning body shots into charge points can be helpful.
    • Carol: If you want to use a Scout to open the boxes, Carol’s extra Critical Attack chance can help your other Survivors.

Spawn Blocks: I did not try to block the spawns at the beginning of the map.

Lock In

Lock In - Overview.PNG

Overview: Deal with the Explosive and two Normal Walkers, close the gates while killing the emerging Walkers, then kill the remaining Walkers.

Potential Strategies: Like most maps, I use Hunters/Assaults/Shooters most of the time. Take out the first Exploding Walker near the gates, and deal with the other two Walkers if they are still alive (and burning). I only close one gate at a time, as during your first turn closing the second gate, an Explosive Walker and a couple Normal Walkers will spawn. When dealing with the Walkers coming from the gates, I use an Assault, but a Warrior with Wide Arc (and Power Strike) could be very useful. Try to keep your distance so you can shoot the Explosive Walker from a distance.

I close the top fence first, as there’s no chance of the Explosive Walker that spawns to be close enough to your fence closer if you use the following setup:

Lock in - Close Gate Position.PNG

  • Work your way into this position if possible, using the survivor in Melisandre’s position to close the gate. If the Explosive Walker spawns close to your Survivors, you can always move out of the blast range.

If you want to use a Warrior, you can position them in the picture below. It’s probably possible to block some of the Walkers spawning by the fence if you kill the Walkers with another Survivor and then move the other Survivor into position, but you risk losing a line of sight on the Exploding Walker that will spawn.

  • Potential Heroes to use:
    • Abraham: More damage and health for ranged Survivors is always helpful.
    • Sasha: Turning body shots into charge points can be helpful.

  • For some reason there was no Tank or Armored in this video, but it’s more to show how to efficiently close the gates and protect yourself from the spawning Explosive Walker.

Perimeter Defense

Perimeter Defense - Overview.PNG

Overview: Kill all the Walkers while opening the boxes, then open the gate and get to the exit.

Potential Strategies: Again, Ranged Survivors are your best bet on this map as you start off with many Walkers, including a Tank and Explosive Walker. If possible, use a Hunter to shoot the Explosive (and Tank) with one shot, doing extra damage to the Tank. After you deal with the Walkers on the top left part of the map, work on the Walkers on the right side of the map. After finishing them off, shoot the Explosive Walker(s) behind the fence, then open the fence and move to the exit. Sometimes the Explosive Walker on the right will hit the Explosives behind the fence and save you a step!

BE AWARE – When you open the gate, 3 Normal Walkers will spawn, so leave your other two Survivors with an Action Point so they can’t advance and attack you. You may want to leave the Exploder(s) behind the fence alive so you can shoot it when you open the fence and help kill the Normal Walkers. Sometimes a 4th Walker will spawn at the bottom of the map (near where Maggie is positioned in the picture below).

  • Potential Heroes to use:
    • Abraham: More damage and health for ranged Survivors is always helpful.
    • Sasha: Turning body shots into charge points can be helpful.

Fire in the Hole

Fire in the Hole - Overview.PNG

Overview: Open the fence while dealing with Explosives, Normals and a Tank Walker before you open the fence (sometimes the Tank is on the right side of the fence). An Explosive Walker will spawn every turn in the top middle of the map to replace the one that you killed. There are Walkers on the right side of the fence, and more will spawn when you open the fence. Again, I use Ranged Survivors to keep the Explosive Walkers at a distance and kill some Walkers through the fence.

Potential Strategies:

  • Potential Heroes to use:
    • Abraham: More damage and health for ranged Survivors is always helpful.
    • Sasha: Turning body shots into charge points can be helpful.

Dark Corner

Dark Corner - Overview.PNG

Overview: Kill all the Walkers.

Potential Strategies: After your first turn, the garage door will open and an Exploding Walker and a couple Normal Walkers will emerge, so don’t overextend your self too far, and use the Exploding Walker to do some damage against the other Walkers (especially the Tank or Armored Walker that may be around. Ranged Survivors are very useful, and don’t forget Piercing trait on your guns when the map gets tough!! If you don’t beat the map in a couple of moves, two Normal and one Explosive Walker will spawn on the far right side of the map, but they really shouldn’t be an issue.

  • Potential Heroes to use:
    • Abraham: More damage and health for ranged Survivors is always helpful.
    • Sasha: Turning body shots into charge points can be helpful.

Fuse Box

Fuse Box - Overview.PNG

Overview: Open the boxes and make your way to the exit.

Potential Strategies: I used Ranged Survivors (and sometimes a Scout with the Pitchfork/Kingdom Spear) and kill as many Walkers as possible before opening the fences and opening the boxes. Assaults become great at tougher levels; charge them up behind the fence, then stun and kill the Walkers as you open the boxes. A Scout can come in handy for their extra movement. If you have the Flamethrower or Rufus’ Reckoning weapons, these could be useful (or at least fun) to help burn out walkers while you’re behind the fence.

NOTE: You can always open the gate, run to open a box, then retreat back behind the fences and close the gate again for protection!

  • Potential Heroes to use:
    • Abraham: More damage and health for ranged Survivors is always helpful.
    • Sasha: Turning body shots into charge points can be helpful.

Spawn Locations:

Spawn Blocks:

Fuse Box - Spawn Blocks 01.PNG

  • You can’t completely block this spawn, so try to stack your Survivors next to each other (not like the picture above), and get a good line of sight to attack multiple Walkers at once.
