Quarry Junction

Quarry Junction - Overview.jpg

Here is some information (and a few tips and strategies) for the Quarry Junction Challenge. As always, different people will have different strategies. So, use this information, try some of these strategies if you want, or develop your own and see what works best. Using your best Survivors will usually give you the best chance at earning more stars, so work with what you have!!

Here’s an overview of some of my general Challenge and Guild Tips that discuss and show some of the strategies mentioned here that can help you get more stars. If you are looking for a guild, head over HERE.

Please share any strategies or videos in the comments!! Please don’t share videos that rely on Weekly Event Class Damage Bonuses (especially Hunter and Assaults) as those are only useful during those events, and are often misleading as to how to best beat a map. Thanks to everyone from the community and the Eh family for their contributions!

Please note that when you start getting to the repeat levels of difficulties, you can get an extra Tank or Armored Walker in the map. NG likes to make things more difficult!

Quarry Gate

Quarry Gate - Overview.PNG

Overview: Open the fence and make your way to the exit.

Potential Strategies:

This is a tougher map in this Challenge. You will start off with 2x Normal Walkers and 1x Tank Walker within close proximity to your survivors. Each move afterwards will spawn 2x Walkers from the pile in the bottom right. There is also a Tank walker (and at least 4 Normal Walkers) on the other side of the fence, and one more Tank and one Explosive Walker will spawn when you open the gate.

The key to this map is opening the gate at the correct time. You need to start opening the Gate with 3 or more moves left before the spawn. Doing this will ensure that the Walkers will only spawn from the LEFT side of the fence when the next wave comes.

Any time you have Explosive Walkers in a map, try to get other Walkers (especially Tanks and Armored) in their blast zone when possible.

Hunters and Assaults are my preferred classes for this map as you can use them to shoot the multiple Walkers that spawn every move, and Hunters (and Shooters) can attack the Walkers on the other side of the fence if the opportunity presents itself. When the map gets more difficult, you may need to put your Survivors with highest Health as the Fence Opener (Assaults or maybe Bruiser). If you use two Assaults, put both of them near the gate opener if you encounter a spawn wave on the right hand side as you can usually shoot all of them with both Assaults with Gold (or maybe Silver) Wide Spread.

  • Potential Heroes to Use:
    • Abraham: More damage and health on your ranged survivors is helpful.
    • Sasha: Turning body shots into Charge Points can be useful on difficult levels.

Spawn Locations:

If the gate isn’t opened and a Spawn occurs, the Walkers will spawn on the right side of the gate (seen below). Having your Survivor opening the gate when this happens is trouble.

If you open the gate and then the spawn occurs, all the Walkers will spawn on left side of the gate (at least for the first spawn). This usually gives you enough moves to take out most of the walkers and work your way to the exit (possibly with Wrestler).

After you open the gate, you may get this spawn if you’ve been fighting off Walkers for a while.Quarry Gate - Spawns 03.PNG

Spawn Blocks: I don’t think there is a way to block the spawns, but try to put your protecting survivors in the upper right portion of the map to give the best chance at hitting multiple walkers.

The Box

The Box - Overview.PNG

Overview: Open the crate on the bridge and make your way to the exit while dealing with Armored, Explosive and Normal Walkers.

First, take out the first few walkers while making your way towards the Box.

After your first move, two more Normal Walkers will spawn in the top left.

The Box - Start 02.PNG

After your second move, an Explosive Walker will spawn on the top left, as well as another walker or two in the bottom left. Walkers will also be spawning on the right of the bridge as well (an Explosive Walker will also spawn)…

The Box - Start 03.PNG

One Explosive and some Normal Walkers will Spawn on the right side of the bridge, and then a second Explosive and an Armored (as well as Normal Walkers), then a second Armored will spawn.

The Box - Start 04.PNG

You will want to manage the Walkers on both sides of the bridge, prioritizing the right side of the bridge first. There’s no reason to attack the left side of the bridge until you really need to, preferably after the Walkers have grouped together…

3 Total Armored Walkers will spawn (one each turn) on the left side of the bridge after a few turns.

Potential Strategies:

Ranged Survivors (Hunter or Shooter) can safely shoot the Explosive Walkers from a distance. Having an Assault charged will make the end of the map much easier as you can stun both of the Armored Walkers and make your way to the exit.

  • Potential Heroes to Use:
    • Abraham: More damage and health on your ranged survivors is helpful.
    • Sasha: Turning body shots into Charge Points can be useful on difficult levels.

You can block some of these Walkers at the end, so try it if you need to.

Something Useful

Something Useful - Overview.PNG

Overview: Kill 5 Normal Walkers while opening the 3 objects, then make your way back to the exit.

Something Useful - Start 01.PNG

After you open the third box, you will get 3x Normal Walkers and 1x Tank spawn around these locations.

Something Useful - Start 02.PNG

Potential Strategies: This map could use any strategy: ranged survivors to shoot your way through, or melee survivors to keep spawns low and/or out maneuver the Tank.

  • Potential Heroes to Use:
    • Abraham: More damage and health on your ranged survivors is helpful.
    • Sasha: Turning body shots into Charge Points can be useful on difficult levels.
    • Jesus: More damage and health on your melee survivors is helpful.
    • Michonne: If you use the Melee/Threat Reduction Strategy, Michonne can help improve the chances of Threat Reduction and Swift Strike!
    • Gabriel: If you use all Scouts, extra Luck and Dodge could be useful.
    • Carol: If you are using all Scouts, Carol’s extra chance of a Critical Attack could be useful (her trait works with every class), though the chance of critical attacks becomes zero when the Walkers are 5 levels above your Survivor (Survivor Level + number of Pink Stars).

Spawn Locations:

Something Useful - Spawns 01.PNG

  • There may be two Walkers that Spawn in the area next to the Walker in the lower left (level 14) and the upper left (no level shown).

The Odds

The Odds 00

Overview: Open the boxes and make your way to the exit.

Potential Strategies:

This map is an easier map in this Challenge. You will want to shoot the Grenade Walker in the upper left, and hopefully it is close enough to kill the other walkers. From there, open the boxes on the left side of the map while trying to get a shot or two at the Armored Walker on the right side of the map.

After your second move, an Explosive Walker will spawn at the bottom of the map. Move away from it and shoot it, then deal with the Explosive and Armored Walkers on the right side of the map.

IMG_7448.PNG

After you open the last box, 1 Explosive and 3x Normal Walkers will spawn on the exit, so make sure you have a free shot available to at least shoot the Explosive Walker.

  • Potential Heroes to Use:
    • Abraham: More damage and health on your ranged survivors is helpful.
    • Sasha: Turning body shots into Charge Points can be useful on difficult levels.

  • It’s hard to see all the spawns, but there is another Walker that will spawn on the left side…check the Spawn Block pics to see where Walkers may spawn.

Army of 3

Army 3 - Overview.PNG

Overview: Kill the tough Walkers. All you need to do here is kill the two Armored Walkers and the Tank Walker. You don’t need to kill the Normal Walkers, so kill the tough walkers as soon as possible and the map will end.

Potential Strategies: Ranged Survivors are your best chance to kill the tough walkers from a safe distance.

  • Potential Heroes to Use:
    • Abraham: More damage and health on your ranged survivors is helpful.
    • Sasha: Turning body shots into Charge Points can be useful on difficult levels.

Quarry Crossroad

Quarry Crossroad - Overview.PNG

Overview: Get to the Exit.

Potential Strategies:

There will be a couple of Normal Walkers closer to your Survivors, and one Tank/Armored and one Explosive Walker towards the exit. After your first move, a second Tank will Spawn, so I suggest not shooting the Explosive Walker on your first move and hope you can shoot it on the second move and damage the Tank.

Once you start getting to tougher difficulties on this map, Wrestler is a pretty important Trait. You need to get to move towards the exit before the second or third spawn, so it will be tough to kill the Tank Walkers and you may need to Wrestle them in order to finish the map.

    • Rosita: Although I prefer Abraham, Rosita can also be used to get more damage against a single Target.
    • Carol: If you are using all Scouts, Carol’s extra chance of a Critical Attack could be useful (her trait works with every class), though the chance of critical attacks becomes zero when the Walkers are 5 levels above your Survivor (Survivor Level + number of Pink Stars).
